FitnessGram

  • The FitnessGram consists of 6 Fitness Tests (5 of 6 tests must be passed in order to opt out of PE Junior and Senior years). All of the tests should be practiced to prepare to pass the tests when administered in the Spring. The tests NOT passed will be repeated as a Sophomore twice (Fall & Spring) and students who cannot pass 5 of 6 tests will be continually placed into a PE class (or a sport) and tested until Graduation. PE requirement is satisfied when 2 years is completed in either PE or a sport.
  • Please click here to access the FitnessGram performance standards which are determined by gender and age.
  • Please click here to access the webpage which contains links of videos showing proper technique and form for each of the fitness tests.

Resources:

  • Physical Health: Be sure to keep moving daily! It is very easy to get into a funk while being isolated at home. Whether you go out for a bike ride, walk/run or do some calisthenics (jumping jacks, burpies, etc.) or jump on youtube and find a fun exercise video. Yoga is a very effective full-body exercise that will get your heart rate going and keep you strong and flexible for Dance. You can jump rope or play an outdoor game like frisbee or playing catch. Just be sure you do a little something DAILY in order to keep yourself healthy.
  • This short video:  https://youtu.be/BSlRvD-CZSo will teach you how to find your pulse and measure your heart rate. Being able to find and measure your heart rate will provide you important data for measuring the health of your heart. Generally your resting heat rate (RHR), which is your heart rate when you are not doing any exercise, should be anywhere from 60 beats per minute (BPM) to 100 BPM. The lower your resting heart rate, the healthier you are. Next week we will learn how to measure the intensity of your workout by using your heart rate.
